Accessibility Statement

Reviewed: 29 January 2026

Our commitment

We want as many people as possible to be able to use UK Postbox. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA and follow good‑practice guidance for private sector services in the UK. We design, build and test with accessibility in mind and make reasonable adjustments for individual needs.

What this statement covers

This statement applies to content we control and publish on our website, web apps and customer portals (including mobile web access via responsive design). It does not cover:

  • Third‑party systems or content that we link to but do not control (e.g., carrier tracking portals);
  • User‑generated content added by customers; or
  • Archived pages that are not needed for active service delivery. Where we rely on third parties, we aim to choose accessible suppliers and raise issues when they are identified.

Using the platform

We strive to ensure you can:

  • Navigate using a keyboard (visible focus states, logical tab order);
  • Use a screen reader (semantic headings, landmarks, labels and alt text);
  • Zoom text up to 200% without loss of content or functionality;
  • Read text with sufficient colour contrast;
  • Pause, stop or hide moving content that could distract from reading;
  • Interact with forms that have clear instructions, error messages and validation; and
  • Use the service without time limits that cannot be extended.

Supported browsers & assistive tech

We test with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on desktop and mobile, and with popular assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, VoiceOver). Older browsers and very small screens may have reduced support. If you rely on specific technology, please tell us so we can prioritise fixes or suggest workarounds.

Known limitations (as of 29 January 2026)

We are working to resolve the following:

  1. Some historical PDF downloads may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
  2. Rare instances of insufficient focus contrast on legacy buttons.
  3. Occasional skip‑link behaviour inconsistencies on certain sub‑pages.

Planned fixes: We are retagging legacy PDFs and unifying component contrast/focus states as part of our ongoing design‑system work. Skip‑link behaviour is being standardised across all layouts. Target completion: Q2 2026.

Reasonable adjustments

If you have a disability and need an adjustment to use our services (for example, extended timeouts, a preferred contact method, or help changing account settings), contact accessibility@ukpostbox.com. We will consider your request under the Equality Act 2010 and provide a suitable alternative where reasonable.

Feedback and reporting accessibility problems

We welcome feedback. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact accessibility@ukpostbox.com with details (page URL, browser/device, assistive tech used, screenshots or a short description). We will investigate and reply with our findings and next steps.

Escalation

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can use our Complaints & Escalation Process. For equality or accessibility rights advice, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) (www.equalityadvisoryservice.com, Tel: 0808 800 0082). For privacy‑related issues, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) (ico.org.uk).

How we test

We use a combination of:

  • Design‑system checks (colour and typography tokens that meet contrast ratios);
  • Automated scans (e.g., axe, Lighthouse) across core templates and releases;
  • Manual audits against WCAG 2.2 AA for key user journeys (sign‑up, login, view mail, request forwarding, payments, account settings);
  • Assistive technology testing with screen readers and keyboard only; and
  • User feedback from customers and staff.

We embed accessibility checks in our development lifecycle (design → build → QA → release) and review new components before rollout.

Measures we take

  • Use of semantic HTML, ARIA where needed, and accessible form patterns;
  • Clear focus styling and consistent keyboard order;
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images;
  • Avoidance of colour‑alone conveyance and flashing content;
  • Responsive layouts that support zoom and reflow;
  • Captions/alternatives for time‑based media we publish;
  • Accessible error handling and inline validation on forms.

Third‑party content and integrations

Some features depend on third‑party services (e.g., payment providers, analytics, carrier systems). We aim to select accessible providers, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third‑party sites or widgets. We will raise issues with suppliers where identified and, where possible, provide alternative routes.
